Sports at Kneesall
At Kneesall we participate in many sporting activities including basketball, tennis, football, dance, tag rugby, rounders, multi-skills, athletics, kwik cricket and swimming and take part in various festivals throughout the year.
We are a feeder school for both the Dukeries Academy and the Tuxford Academy and with other primary schools in the Families we have taken part in boccia, basketball, tag rugby, multi-skills, orienteering, netball, gymnastics, dance, cross country, tennis and rounders.
We love netball and we won the tournament for the Tuxford Family of Schools and we then took part in a tournament in the Bassetlaw areas and came second overall. We were very pleased.
Body Rhythms is an annual dance festival for the Dukeries Family. We had a celebration day in the Summer term and the children who had performed at Body Rhythms took part in some dance workshops including ballet, zumba, cheerleading & gymnastics.
We have a wonderful dance teacher who is a retired prima ballerina. She has taught us all so much and enabled our dancers to perform to a very high standard. In July we were very honoured to be asked to perform a dance at the opening ceremony of the Sainsbury’s School Games in Nottingham – the first ever primary school to be asked!
In the Spring term KS1 were able to go to Retford Gym Club with other primary schools of the Tuxford Family and they had a fantastic time. It gave the children the opportunity to participate in activities that they can’t normally do within our school setting.
Y5/6 children all completed a Play Maker award organised by The Sports Co-ordinator at Tuxford Academy. This means our pupils can now organise and lead sports clubs. This is a great way of developing their social and moral skills, learning to co-operate with others and developing a sense of right and wrong and fair play.
