Homework is set weekly in Class 2 and children are encouraged to try their best when completing homework tasks.
Children will learn spelling rules and Y3 / 4 words which are listed in the National Curriculum. The teaching of spelling is supported through the Read Write Inc. Spelling Scheme for Year 3 and Year 4. Children are also encouraged to practise learning their weekly spellings at home to reinforce class learning. Spellings will be tested each Monday morning.

At the end of Year 2, children should be able to fluently recall the 10, 5 and 2 times tables. In Year 3, we learn the 4, 8, and 3 times tables. By the end of Year 4, children should be able to quickly and accurately recall times tables up to 12 x 12. The order times tables is taught is 10, 5, 2, 4, 8, 3, 6, 9, 7, 11, 12.
There are many ways to support learning times tables, including songs and chanting, games such as Hit the Button and Times Tables Rock Stars. Children will be set games to play on Times Tables Rock Stars each week, and there will be some battles between the year groups throughout the year! https://ttrockstars.com/
We love stories! A love of reading is encouraged at school through the texts we teach and the lovely stories we share. It is a joy to hear your child talk so enthusiastically about a book, comic, newspaper, graphic novel, encyclopaedia or the Bible! Please encourage your child to read at least 3 times at home and record this in their reading diary.
One written task will be sent home weekly on Friday to be returned by Wednesday of the following week please. This task should take approximately 20 minutes and will be linked to class learning. Please complete written homework in pencil, and present neatly, to the high standards expected in class.
