Welcome to Class One!
Our class teachers are Miss Bennett and Mrs Hudson.
Welcome to the new school year!
Welcome back to an exciting new year in Class One! We can’t wait to see your smiling faces. We hope you are as excited as us to begin your learning journey through Key Stage One.
Once we are established with our RWI learning (please read more about this in our Curriculum tab below), a book will come home with your child for you to read with them. Your child will already have read the book and should be fairly confident with the skills they need to decode it and understand and talk about what they are reading. They will keep this book for around three to five days when we will issue them with their next one.
We will aim to check your child's reading journals regularly and will award three hundred squares every time your child manages to read three times in one week, so make sure to keep them up to date!
Your child's spelling test will be every Monday morning. We would advise practicing these regularly. They will build upon the phonics sounds or spelling rules that they have been learning in school. In Year One, they will also be set some 'red words' (tricky words that don't always look the way they sound)!
A few notices:
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either of us. Miss Bennett will teach Class One Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday and Mrs Hudson will teach Class One on Thursdays. No matter the day, we are both here to support you.
