Together We Achieve

Homework

Homework at Kneesall C of E Primary is set to enhance and consolidate children’s learning. If the children have any problems, please encourage them to come and speak to an adult as soon as possible.

Reading

Please support children in their reading at home (which, in addition to books, can include comics, e-books, magazines, newspapers, leaflets etc.) We ask children to read for at least 10 minutes a day at home and have their record signed by an adult. This will have huge impact on children’s progress, both in reading and writing.

Every Friday, if pupils have read at least 3 times during the week, they will receive 3 house points.

Spelling

Children are also given a set of 10 spellings to learn each week, which they will then be tested on every Monday morning. We ask children to learn the spelling patterns within these words and find the definitions of each word.

Every Monday, if pupils score at least 8 out of 10 on their spelling dictation, they will receive 3 house points.

Maths

Pupils also have access to a variety of Maths fluency programs, including: Times Tables Rockstar, Numbots and White Rose 1-minute Maths. We ask children to access the Maths fluency programs for at least 5 minutes a day, to practice their Maths arithmetic skills.

Every Friday, if pupils have accessed Times Tables Rockstar at least 3 times during the week, they will receive 3 house points.

Half-term Project

Spring 1 Homework:

We’re starting a new history topic on the Maya Civilization. I’d like each child to create a booklet based on their research into a topic of their choice, depending on what interests them most. This could include areas like Maya cities, daily life, religion, achievements, or the decline of the civilization. They may also choose to focus on a few topics. BBC Bitesize is a good child-friendly website for this topic. This project will help children develop their research and presentation skills, while also reinforcing the new learning taking place in class.

Homework needs to be handed in by Monday 3rd February please.

Thank you for your support!
